Liftup USA to hire up 20 new local employees

TAMPA, Fla. – (May 9, 2018) – Liftup, an innovative designer and manufacturer of technology products that help disabled, injured and elderly people navigate steps and achieve greater mobility, today announced that it will establish its first overseas subsidiary, Liftup USA, in Tampa. The Denmark-based company will hire 20 local employees for a range of positions including regional distribution managers, logistics managers, sales professionals, and production and warehouse associates. The company also plans to invest up to $350,000 in the project.

“We have chosen to establish our US corporation in Tampa, since Florida has a fast-growing population of our target customers over the age of 65,” said Benny Steen Rasmussen, president of Liftup USA. “We appreciate the support we received from the Tampa Hillsborough EDC, which helped us to keep our startup costs down.”

Liftup USA is dedicated to bringing more dignity and a better user experience to people who rely on wheelchairs or have physical impairments due to age, injury, or disability. The company’s award-winning approach to solving mobility challenges incorporates elegant design and the latest technology with essential safety and functionality. Its products include battery operated, lightweight collapsible chairs that can help a fallen person rise to an upright position without effort, collapsible staircases that convert to lifts for easy transition to an upper level, and lifting platforms hidden into the design of a floor. Users would simply push a button to raise the floor, making it even with an upper level or step, and then return the lift to its hidden position.

The Tampa Hillsborough EDC assisted Liftup USA with property searches, market data, workforce program information, and partnership referrals. The company is leasing office facilities at 4809 Ehrlich Road in Tampa.

“We’re delighted to welcome Liftup USA to Hillsborough County,” said Commissioner Sandy Murman, chair of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. “Our efforts to ensure a pro-business environment are attracting both domestic and international companies and helping us to beat competing Southeastern cities for jobs and investment.”

“Tampa’s reputation as the place to be for innovative young companies seeking extraordinary talent is gaining steam across the globe,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn, City of Tampa. “This city’s low cost of living, diverse and affordable housing options, and outstanding quality life have made it a destination for fast-growing firms and highly skilled people to come and build their future. We look forward to helping Liftup USA achieve great success here.”

Liftup USA joins a growing number of international companies that have recently chosen to expand their operations in Tampa and Hillsborough County, including TransferWise, SLV Lighting, and Willis Towers Watson.

“Liftup USA is a wonderful addition to Hillsborough County’s business community, and we thank them for choosing our market,” said Alan F. List, MD, chairman of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation and president and CEO of Moffitt Cancer Center. “Our EDC team is committed to helping them engage with the partners and resources they need to thrive in Tampa.”
