Hancock Whitney Bank’s Sammy Hicks, III, is currently Senior Vice President and Middle Market Banker for the West Florida Region. He is responsible for growing new business relationships and delivering all the bank’s products and services for companies with annual revenues of more than $20 million. With nearly 20 years of experience, Hicks held a variety of leadership positions in Charlotte, NC before his move to Florida in 2018.
Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President with SunTrust Bank and spent four years as Director at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey (STRH). Prior to joining STRH, Sammy served as CEO of a boutique asset management and financial consulting firm for two years. Prior to this role, he spent twelve years with Banc of America Securities in a variety of capital market roles, including investment grade originations, structured finance, and corporate strategy.
Sammy was very active in the Charlotte community serving in various roles including: Co-Chair of the African-American Leadership Initiative for the United Way of Central Carolinas, Board Member of Sickle Cell Disease Foundation, Morehouse College Alumni Association, Student Leadership Team for Olde Providence Elementary, 100 Black Men of Greater Charlotte, Inc. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Finance/Funding Co-Chair of MTC Transit Funding Working Group. In Tampa, he’s active with The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Tampa Bay EDC, Tampa Hillsborough Urban League and supports other community and civic organizations.
In addition, Sammy is a former 82nd Airborne Division Finance Officer and currently serves as the 108th Training Command’s Chief (Lieutenant Colonel), Internal Review, in the United States Army Reserve.
Hicks earned a BA from Morehouse College (Honors) in Accounting and an MBA from Wake Forest University’s Babcock School of Management. He is FINRA licensed with series 7, 79 and 63. He enjoys golfing, traveling and spending time with his family.
