2020 will be Tampa’s Year for Tech

December 17, 2019

The past few weeks have yielded a bonanza of exciting stories about Tampa’s emergence as a top tech destination. These accolades are hard won and a long time coming – and our local technology community deserves huge kudos for this recognition. Our tech and innovation ecosystem is dynamic, diverse and attracting the kind of talent and companies that are going to shape our region’s future.

Tampa has long been the top metro area in Florida in STEM job demand, and CompTIA recently ranked our market among the best cities for IT jobs in the nation. Recruiter Robert Half also cited Tampa as one of the top cities in which companies are planning to expand their tech teams. We’ve known this to be true for quite some time, given the feedback we receive from top employers in the area who find exceptionally good tech talent here. Our startup ecosystem is evolving, too, and with our robust network of incubators and accelerators such as Embarc Collective, Tampa Bay Wave, and the Hillsborough Entrepreneur Collaborative Center and capital providers like Florida Funders who are experts in helping technology companies to compete and succeed, the next decade is looking great for our new ventures.

There is no doubt that national rankings help us to attract people to Tampa and draw talent here. With Inc. ranking Tampa among the top 20 surge cities in America, Huffington Post ranking us among the top 10 emerging destinations in the world, and Fundera applauding our city as one of the best in the nation for starting a business, the future looks pretty bright indeed.

Our team looks forward to strengthening our collaboration with our partners in the technology ecosystem in the new year, and we’ll be supporting game-changing events like the Synapse Summit in February to kick things off.

I wish you and your families a wonderful and safe holiday season and hope that all of your dreams come true in 2020.

Warmly,

Craig
