Atlanta Based Medical Weight Loss Company Expands Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Operations in Hillsborough County

OrderlyMeds will create up to 100 new, high wage jobs and be fully operational by August 2025

Tampa, Fla. (April 29, 2025) – OrderlyMeds, a medical weight loss company that provides personalized GLP-1 medication combined with comprehensive wrap-around services, is leasing a 50,000 square foot facility in Hillsborough County for pharmaceutical manufacturing and office space. The company plans to hire 100 new, high wage positions that include pharmacists and pharmacy technicians as well as executive and operations roles.

OrderlyMeds was created to bring affordable and convenient weight loss management care directly to consumers and offers access to GLP-1 medication. Boasting a full-service approach to customer care, OrderlyMeds also provides patients with mental health services and nutrition support to reach their optimal health and wellness goals.

“Choosing Tampa felt like a natural fit due to the strong healthcare ecosystem and its position as a growing hub for healthcare innovation,” said Chris Spears, CEO and founder of OrderlyMeds. “Our investment in this compounding pharmacy will eventually create hundreds of new jobs, support the local community, and serve our growing customer community while driving our next phase of growth.”

The company will occupy its new facility at 6463 Falkenburg Road in August.

“We’re thrilled that OrderlyMeds has chosen Hillsborough County for the expansion of its pharmaceutical manufacturing operations,” said Commissioner Ken Hagan of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. “We look forward to supporting them as they get established and become part of the diverse manufacturing ecosystem that is thriving here.”

The Tampa Bay Economic Development Council supported OrderlyMeds with multiple site visits and introductions to investors as well as community, education and workforce partners, facilitating a smooth transition into the region.

“OrderlyMeds is a welcome addition to our growing sector of innovative life sciences companies,” said Ron Christaldi, chair of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council; partner at Shumaker; and president and CEO of Shumaker Advisors Florida. “With the exceptional talent available here, we are confident that they will find the professionals they need to rapidly expand and succeed in our market.”

Tampa Bay is home to nearly 1100 life sciences companies, supporting more than 25,000 jobs. Over the next five years, the Tampa MSA’s health care and life sciences industry is projected to see a growth rate of more than 6%. Additionally, more than 20% of those employed in the life sciences sector in Florida reside in this region.

Tampa is also home to the Tampa Medical and Research District (TMRD), a burgeoning hub of world class clinical care, academics, research and biotechnology, anchored by Tampa General Hospital and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, and in partnership with the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council.
