Capping off a year-long flurry of job creation announcements throughout Tampa Bay, BluePearl Veterinary Partners said it is investing $1 million to expand its Tampa headquarters.

About 50 new jobs are expected to be created within three years as a result of the 4,800-square-foot addition, the vet medical practice said Wednesday.

“Tampa has always been our home, and we are happy to be creating new jobs and opportunities with our support services team as we continue opening veterinary hospitals across the United States,” BluePearl CEO Darryl Shaw said in a statement.

Founded in 1996 by Shaw and his brother, veterinarian Neil Shaw, BluePearl has grown rapidly, with much of its national expansion occurring after 2008. In addition to its current headquarters staff of about 50, it employs more than 1,800 workers at 40 other veterinary hospitals in 14 states.

Hillsborough County is working with the practice to expedite its permitting process.

Tampa Bay has enjoyed a robust year of corporate expansions and relocations. In Hillsborough alone, Laser Spine Institute, Tribridge, LabTech Software, and ConnectWise are among those with expansion plans.
