September 4, 2013

Company will lease 70,000 square feet at 5104 Eisenhower Boulevard with option for additional space.

Center will feature open floor plan with spaces to encourage collaboration and creativity.

PRINCETON, N.J./Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE: BMY) today announced an agreement with TIER REIT to lease 70,000 square feet of office space at 5104 Eisenhower Boulevard South in northwest Hillsborough County for the company’s new North America Capability Center. The 10-year agreement includes a company option to lease an additional 60,000 square feet. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In July, the company announced plans to bring 579 highly skilled positions to the Tampa Bay region starting in 2014. About 250 knowledge workers in information technology, marketing services, business and finance services, and other functions supporting the company’s biopharmaceutical business in the United States will occupy the center when it opens in January.

The design of the office space is inspired by the company’s cultural focus on innovation and continuous improvement. The center’s open floor plan features lots of meeting rooms and gathering spaces including special zones designed to encourage creativity and collaboration. These zones include “town centers” on each floor and a large collaboration area on the first floor. The office space will not feature traditional offices but emphasizes openness through glass and natural lighting as well as the latest technology for communications and connectivity.

“We designed our facility with an eye toward building a dynamic culture that encourages and rewards innovation and cooperation while also enabling us to deliver high-quality services that will help us maintain our position as a global biopharma leader,” says Gareth Morgan, senior vice president, Bristol-Myers Squibb. “We are seeking people in the Tampa area who are looking for an opportunity to change lives, including their own. At our Tampa facility, we will build a culture of innovation and continuous improvement from the ground up. Our Tampa workers will be challenged to identify and implement new ideas and approaches that will help our company compete in an increasingly complex and competitive industry.”

The company will occupy about half of a four-story, 130,000-square-foot building that is conveniently located off Veterans Expressway (Route 589) and West Hillsborough Road (Route 580) near Tampa International Airport and also is easy to reach from Interstate 275, the Courtney Campbell Causeway and Dale Mabry Highway. The Route 34 bus operated by the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority stops nearby.

Most positions at the center will be filled by people living in the Tampa Bay area. The company will soon begin posting Tampa positions at www.bms.com/careers and will continue to post additional positions throughout the year. The company expects to complete the initial round of staffing by the end of December.
