Cognizant expands operations in Tampa, adding 75 high-wage jobs
September 21, 2017
In early September, Cognizant Technology Solutions, a global provider of business and technology services, announced an expansion of its Tampa operations. This expansion will be the company’s fourth facility in Tampa and will create 75 new jobs. Cognizant is one of the largest service providers to healthcare organizations in the U.S., and this Tampa expansion will focus mostly on services and support in the healthcare realm.
With more than 100 delivery and operations centers across the world, Cognizant employs more than 255,000 globally, with more than 1,900 in Florida and half of that number based in the Tampa area.
Previously, Cognizant invested $5.7 million in the Tampa community with an expansion in 2014, which created 400 new jobs. The business and technology provider has also partnered with CareerSource Tampa Bay and Hillsborough Community College to develop technology courses for students and to put them on the path toward careers in the growing digital economy.
Cognizant Chief People Officer James Lennox said, “Florida is a great place to do business and we are delighted to make this expansion. A number of Cognizant clients, particularly in the healthcare and financial services industry, are based in Tampa and surrounding Hillsborough County, and we’re pleased to continue expanding our footprint as we see demand for our services continue to grow. Tampa and the State of Florida overall provide the type of robust infrastructure critical to supporting our business needs as a technology company, thanks in part to the continued efforts of Governor Scott and his team. Cognizant benefits from a local talent pool fed by the State’s post-secondary education system and the high concentration of skilled military veterans and their spouses”
