CWU, Inc. moves headquarters to Tampa, plans to employ up to 50

TAMPA, Fla. – (Feb. 27, 2017)CWU, Inc., a provider of professional, administrative, linguistic, and training support services to the federal government, today announced that it will be relocating its corporate headquarters from Clearwater to Tampa.  The company is moving 30 existing positions to Tampa and adding up to 20 new ones by 2018. The positions include executive, program management, human resources, legal, and accounting functions and pay an average wage of $78,600.

“CWU aspires to be the premier professional support services in the defense contracting industry,” said CWU Chairman and President Charles Jenkins. “Today, CWU is a $50 million critical staff augmentation company, a leading provider of professional support personnel. Forecasts project we will double our size over the next 24 months. We are excited to be moving our headquarters to Tampa.”

Jenkins continued, “Greater Tampa Bay is home to an abundance of colleges and universities in addition to the home of MacDill AFB. The I-4 Corridor has rapidly grown into the third largest defense contracting community in the US, and Tampa attracts a diverse and technologically-fluent employee base from some of the best local colleges, universities, and the military. We are excited to bring our headquarters to this dynamic and innovative city.”

In March, CWU will move into 10,000 square feet of space at Westshore Technology Center, 5402 W. Laurel Street in Tampa with an investment of $2.5 million in the new headquarters facility.

Launched in 2004, CWU is a Veteran’s Administration Verified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). CWU Chairman and President Charles Jenkins is a retired US Army Special Forces veteran.

CWU employs 400 full-time and 250+ part-time personnel. In addition to its headquarters in Tampa, the company operates satellite offices in Mainz, Germany; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Bordentown, New Jersey; Augusta, GA; Savannah, GA, and the Washington, D.C. Metro Area.

Since 2004, CWU has been awarded more than 100 prime contracts and supported seven expeditionary OCONUS contracts. The company has provided direct operational and training support services to more than 90 federal agencies for more than 125,000 military and law enforcement personnel.

The Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation assisted CWU with connections to resource partners to assist with relocations for new employees recruited from outside of the area and identified training grant opportunities the company can utilize as they continue their growth.
