The Tampa Hillsborough Film and Digital Media Commission took their marketing efforts internationally this month and attended TIFF, the Toronto International Film Festival. Widely recognized as one of the most important industry events and attended by over 400,000 people, TIFF sets off the Academy Award season contenders.

While in Toronto, Film Commissioner Dale Gordon’s met with filmmakers to educate them on the many valuable assets in Tampa and Hillsborough County, including locations, workforce, governmental assistance such as streamlined permitting, and local incentives.

TIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Canadian cinema to film lovers. What began as a ten-day film festival has grown to embrace programming 365 days a year. TIFF offers screenings, lectures, discussions, festivals, workshops, industry support, and the chance to meet filmmakers from Canada and around the world.

As an important tourist destination for Canadians, the Tampa Bay area is also home to many television and commercial productions year round produced by our northern neighbors. Going to trade shows and festivals like TIFF gives Film Tampa Bay the opportunity to refresh relationships and expand on its services to make Tampa even more attractive for future film productions.
