Tampa office marks first East Coast expansion, plans to accommodate for 600 local employees over the next couple of years

Fisher Investments announced that it is expanding to Tampa with a new, full-service office in the Westshore business district. Following expansions in Texas, Washington state and California, the Tampa office is Fisher’s first major facility on the East Coast and will accommodate up to 600 employees.

“Over 10 years ago, we opened our first Washington office and in 2017, we opened our first Texas office to give employees a ‘menu of choices’ to live and work from,” said Fisher Investments CEO Damian Ornani. “Today, our Washington office is our largest by headcount and Texas is roughly equivalent to our California locations combined, with over 500 employees. We’re delighted to add Tampa to our office options. The new office allows us to better retain and attract talent from throughout the Eastern Seaboard.”

Fisher Investments is one of the world’s largest independent, fee-only investment advisers and serves over 74,000 clients globally. The new office is located at Tampa Bay Park corporate center at 3109 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. near Raymond James Stadium. CBRE brokered the transaction for the space, which is managed by Highwoods Properties.

“This announcement is a huge win for our city and proves that Tampa’s momentum for attracting major global operations hasn’t slowed down,” said Mayor Jane Castor, City of Tampa. “I couldn’t be happier to welcome Fisher Investments to Tampa and I’m confident they will find the high-quality talent they need to thrive here.”

Financial and professional services is the fastest growing industry sector in the Tampa metro area, with year-over-year employment gains. Over the next five years, the financial and professional services industry in Hillsborough County is projected to grow by 8.5%, which outpaces growth on the state and national level. Tampa and Hillsborough County offer a competitive alternative to the traditional financial centers of the US Northeast.

“We’re thrilled Fisher Investments has chosen to open a regional headquarters in Hillsborough County,” said Les Miller, Chairman of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. “We’re grateful for their investment and the addition of hundreds of new high-wage jobs for our residents.”

Fisher Investments joins a growing list of financial services companies with a major presence in Tampa including DTCC, USAA, MetLife, Citi and TransferWise. Tampa has also attracted other major companies in recent years such as global law firm Baker McKenzie and leading biotech company Amgen.

“The addition of Fisher Investments to Tampa is another boost to our fast-growing financial services sector,” said Craig J. Richard, president and CEO of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council. “The Tampa region has earned a reputation as a top business destination with an extremely competitive talent pool that continues to attract top global companies. We look forward to a long, successful relationship with Fisher Investments that benefits our community, their clients, and employees alike.”
