Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp., an information technology and consulting company, will expand its Tampa operations over the next four years.

According to a governor’s office press release, Cognizant (NASDAQ: CTSH), based in Teaneck, New Jersey, will add 400 new jobs and invest about $5.7 million.

The company will hire app developers and IT maintenance specialists in the financial services, insurance and health care industries.

Half of its 900 Florida-based employees are in Tampa. The company has more than 75 operation centers worldwide and 31,000 full-time employees across the country, according to the release.

Tampa houses about 20 percent of Florida’s IT positions, which are expected to grow 10 percent in next five years.

In March, Cognizant opened a new facility near the junction of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Interstate 75 and promised 500 workers over three years.
