Global Tampa Bay Regional Alliance conducts successful FDI mission in UK and Ireland

December 20, 2017

Leaders from the Global Tampa Bay Regional Alliance traveled to the United Kingdom and Ireland last month, conducting their second regional FDI mission together.

The UK/Ireland mission was aimed at attracting foreign direct investment to Tampa Bay. The trip’s agenda centered on meetings between representatives from Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco Counties and prospects interested in business opportunities in our region.

There are many reasons why Irish and UK companies would find Tampa Bay an attractive market for investment. Tampa International Airport offers direct flights to London, making business between Tampa and the UK easier than ever before. The presence of several UK companies that are successfully operating here – including Atkins, James Hardie, AMEC Foster Wheeler and Willis Towers Watson – strengthens the argument that Tampa Bay is a location in which they can thrive.

“Foreign direct investment missions are a great opportunity for us to sell the Tampa Bay region to overseas executives interested in expanding in the U.S.” says Craig Richard, CEcD, President and CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough EDC. “We’re able to build valuable relationships and promote the advantages of our business climate, talent pool, and quality of life to prospects eager to learn more about how they can succeed in our market.”
