Happy 10th Birthday to us!

September 27, 2019

Earlier this month, we celebrated another major milestone – our 10th year as the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation. In 2009, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, encouraged by then-Mayor Pam Iorio, decided to spin out its economic development arm, the Committee of 100. It wasn’t an easy decision for some leaders, but in September 2009 the new organization was incorporated and launched, chaired by Larry Richey of Cushman Wakefield. We’ve been running at top speed ever since.

The EDC’s success would not have been possible without the hard work and supportive leadership of so many people in this community. At our Annual Meeting on October 29, we will honor those who have guided us through our first decade. Their vision has transformed Tampa into a vibrant place that businesses from Fortune 500 companies to start ups have chosen as the place to build their future. It’s a city that is attracting and keeping scores of young talent. The completion of the Riverwalk and massive projects like Water Street Tampa and Midtown are generating the kind of excitement and anticipation most cities can only dream about. And yet there is so much more to come.

I hope that you and your colleagues, clients, and prospects will join us at the Annual Meeting next month to celebrate our first ten years and help us plan the next. Tickets can be found on our web site.

We’re excited to move Tampa and Hillsborough County forward with you!
