You recently joined the Tampa Bay EDC as a Circle of Champions Investor. Why did you feel it was important to support local economic development efforts?

The Tampa Bay Economic Development Council has created an entrepreneurial ecosystem ideal for helping tech companies like Fast flourish.

From my first visit to Tampa, I could see that the city is brimming with innovative energy, stocked with talent, and truly family-friendly. Tampa Bay EDC is driving a lot of the growth and opportunity in the region. The organization is doing meaningful work to bring new jobs and capital investments to Tampa, and as a community member and business leader, I’m eager to contribute to these efforts.

What role do you see Fast playing in building Tampa’s technology sector?

Fast’s contributions in Tampa won’t just be limited to job creation. We’re already starting to partner with local organizations, like AMALIE Arena and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Personally, I’m eager to engage and support some of the initiatives that originally drew me to the region – including efforts to improve local infrastructure, affordable housing, and support for minority-owned businesses.

I’m bullish on the opportunity in Tampa and look forward to propelling the region forward even further as a destination for top tech companies and talent. I hope to be a voice for Tampa to drive more businesses and talent into this incredible city to make Florida an even better place to call home.

As a new Tampa resident, what has surprised you most about Tampa, and how do you describe our area to people you know or meet outside of the market?

I’m originally from Australia and since I moved to Tampa in July, it’s been so refreshing and invigorating to find a welcoming community of entrepreneurs and startups here.

My goal is to be an evangelist for the Tampa Bay area and draw in even more tech workers to the area, to build on the great talent that is already here. We’ve had team members at Fast relocate to Tampa because of the affordable cost of living, great schools, beautiful beaches, and warm weather. The quality of life in Tampa is unbeatable and I’m shouting this from the rooftops every time I talk to other CEOs.

What excites you most about Tampa’s future?

Tampa is just getting started and almost every day, you hear about new high-profile companies setting up headquarters here. I’m especially excited to see more global companies building their presence in Tampa and bringing more high-paying jobs to the region and fueling the local economy.
