1. Those of us who live here know that Hillsborough County is a great place to live and work. When you are recruiting top talent from out of market, what aspects of our community are often cited as positive factors influencing their decision to relocate here?
Lawyers we recruit from around the country are attracted to the depth and breadth of the area’s artistic and cultural communities, thriving restaurant scene, professional and college sports, and beautiful weather. They want a safe, family-friendly city that offers these amenities, as well as access to a sophisticated business and legal market. Our candidates recognize that Tampa Bay—as the fourth largest metropolitan area in the Southeast—offers both.

2. What is your favorite aspect of living in Tampa Bay?
Professionally, I have the best of both worlds. I have a practice at one of the country’s most respected law firms, Greenberg Traurig, which enables me to maintain high-level national and international work while still enjoying the benefits of a small, collegial office here in Tampa. Personally, the Tampa Bay area has been the perfect place for my wife and me to raise our daughter. The people here are very friendly and outgoing, and it is great to be a part of this community.

3. Where do you derive the most benefit for yourself and your company as an Investor of the EDC?
Because the EDC brings so many talented people together, our firm’s involvement in the organization has helped to facilitate new connections with likeminded professionals. These connections provide valuable opportunities to meet and collaborate with other community leaders who are committed to the economic growth and prosperity of the Tampa Bay area.

4. How has the EDC played a role in helping your business succeed in Tampa and Hillsborough County?
The EDC has introduced Greenberg Traurig lawyers to both current and future business partners. The connection that develops with an individual or business through the EDC provides a strong base for nurturing future professional relationships and that has helped us to develop business as a result of our involvement with the EDC.
Additionally, the EDC’s emphasis on innovation keeps us focused on the future. Our office strives to stay current with the trends both in the market and beyond, which is why it has been helpful to draw on the valuable insight we obtain from the EDC.

5. What is the number one thing that you believe will impact our region’s competitiveness in the coming decade?
Attracting and keeping young, talented business professionals will be crucial to our region’s continued growth and success. We must also focus on continuing to reinvest in and develop Tampa, from both a business and lifestyle perspective. I look forward to seeing how, with the support of the EDC and its members, our region continues to evolve in the coming years.
