Tampa is a welcoming city where you can make an immediate impact. There is a growing business community, and there is a sense that this is a transformative moment in time in the area’s development. Yet, while business thrives, this remains a very livable community with an excellent quality of life for all people. Cost of living is relatively low; the airport is amazing; and you have everything from the beaches to the arts, as well as a rich history and multiple sports teams.

2. What is your favorite aspect of living in Tampa Bay?
It’s warm and welcoming, with a thriving arts and business community. You can work hard and play hard, with events like the Gasparilla Music Festival, packed throughout the year. You’ll always find something to do, regardless of what interests you have.

As Investors of the EDC, we are able to engage with other business leaders. It is part of the fabric that brings our business community together and contributes to the forward direction of the Tampa Bay area.
Shumaker succeeds as the business community succeeds; therefore, we want to support the EDC, as its mission is to help our business community thrive. More specifically, the EDC has offered us some wonderful introductions to organizations coming into the area, which in turn helps our business grow.

4. What is the number one thing that you believe will impact our region’s competitiveness in the coming decade?
Transportation will be a determining factor in our region’s future. As we grow, transportation is going to affect everything else: attracting new talent; retaining and expanding businesses; improving our quality of life; and competing with other cities.
