Join Global Tampa Bay for export sales mission to Costa Rica

February 25, 2020

Optional second market visit to Panama City in the same week

Local companies interested in increasing business with Latin America are encouraged to sign up for Global Tampa Bay’s export sales mission to San Jose, Costa Rica from June 24-27, 2020. Companies can also take advantage of visiting a second market in the same week by joining Enterprise Florida’s trade mission to Panama City, Panama during June 22-25, 2020.

The export sales mission to Costa Rica features the U.S. Commercial Service Gold Key Program, which offers personalized one-on-one appointments with potential customers in San Jose. Interested companies will receive an initial market evaluation prior to acceptance into the program and should apply by April 20, 2020. There is a delegate package available for interested parties as well. The registration deadline is April 30, 2020.

There are several reasons why Tampa Bay companies should consider exporting to Costa Rica. Open trade policies, zero tariffs, and a pro-business climate offer local companies significant trade opportunities and foreign investment. Port Tampa Bay also offers regular direct container services to Costa Rica from Tampa via Seacat Line.

The United States is Costa Rica’s largest trade and investment partner and Costa Rica is one of the top 10 destinations for Florida’s exports, receiving $2.5 billion in merchandise exports from Florida in 2018.

The multi-day mission, Global Tampa Bay’s first of 2020, builds upon previous economic activities targeting Central and South America. In fiscal year 2019, export sales missions to Chile, Panama and Brazil, yielded more than $13 million in projected future sales and economic activity for local companies.

The top sectors for U.S. exports include agriculture, automotive parts, construction products, cosmetics, franchising and solar energy products.

The export sales mission to Costa Rica is made possible through partnership with Enterprise Florida.
