July heats up with arrival of Bertram Yachts, BeniComp Insurance and Sagitec

July 21, 2016

Three new companies bringing more than 200 jobs announced their arrival in Tampa within a week earlier this month, boosting the local manufacturing, professional services and information technology sectors.

On July 11, BeniComp Insurance Company announced it was relocating its headquarters from Indiana to Tampa, bringing nine members of the executive team here with plans to add more. The supplemental group health insurance company worked with the EDC to get connected to CareerSource Tampa Bay for future hiring and training needs.

BeniComp joins more than 129,000 financial and professional services firms in Florida.

“BeniComp’s relocation of its headquarters to Tampa strengthens Hillsborough County’s position as the preferred location for financial and professional services firms,” said Colleen Chappell, chair of the Tampa Hillsborough EDC and CEO of ChappellRoberts. “We thank BeniComp for choosing Tampa as its new home and look forward to supporting their growth and success.”

Just two days later, the EDC was celebrating another big win with the announcement of Tampa as the new international headquarters for Bertram Yachts. The yacht company will create 140 new jobs with a $35 million capital investment in the community. The company chose the location in South Tampa over North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia as the best location for its new manufacturing facility.

Governor Scott said, “I am proud to announce that Bertram has chosen Florida over North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia as the best state to locate their international headquarters which will create 140 new jobs in Florida. This announcement follows the over 1,000 new jobs I announced at the Farnborough Air Show in London this week. We will continue to do all we can to welcome new businesses to our state.”

Sagitec Solutions, LLC, a leading provider of tailor-made pension, provident fund, and unemployment software solutions, chose Tampa for its next expansion. The St. Paul, MN-based company has four other U.S. offices in Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, and California, as well as two in India. Sagitec plans to create up to 60 jobs in roles such as software support specialists, software engineers, business analysts, and HR professionals with average annual salaries of $60,000.

The EDC assisted Sagitec with local market business intelligence, custom property searches, relocation assistance, and training grant opportunities.
