A company that makes orthopedic devices and develops technology to improve surgical procedures is investing $500,000 to expand its US headquarters in Tampa.

Corin USA, a division of Corin Group LLC, plans up to 100 new high-wage jobs in marketing, operations, sales and other administrative roles, as part of the expansion, a press release said.

The expansion — one of two announced Wednesday by the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp. — is a victory for economic developers, who have been working to bring more high-paying jobs and headquarters locations to the region, including companies in the life sciences sector.

“Tampa has been and will continue to be a corridor of technological and health care innovation, which creates a strong base for talent and collaborative partnerships with other adjacent industries,” said Paul Berman, president of Corin USA, in a press release.

Corin USA did not get any economic incentives to expand in Tampa, but did get help from the Tampa Hillsborough EDC with its real estate property search and expedited permitting services. The company recently moved its offices from Westshore area to 7,000-square-feet of new space at 12750 Citrus Park Lane. The $500,000 investment in expansion will take place between now and 2022, a press release said.

The Tampa Hillsborough EDC also is providing connections to workforce training programs.

Corin USA was established 14 years ago in Tampa and employs about 30 people locally and about 100 across the United States. The Tampa office is home to Corin’s business activities in the U.S., including sales, marketing, clinical, regulatory, finance, and operations and logistics groups that support the sales and marketing of Corin’s medical devices and technologies.

One of its latest innovations is a technology that helps surgeons determine the best positioning of an implant and its components when they are doing hip replacement surgery.

Separately, the Tampa Hillsborough EDC said Vendita, a technology and software development company, also is relocating its headquarters from Toledo, Ohio to Tampa.

Vendita has moved into executive office space at 2503 W. Swann Ave. as it looks to finalize leasing up to 3,500 square feet of space in Tampa and make an investment of $500,000 in the new headquarters facility, a press release said.

By 2019, the company will create up to 15 new jobs, including high-wage technical positions such as database administrators and developers, as well as sales professionals and administrative staff.

The company, a certified woman-owned minority business enterprise, currently employs 14 people.

“Tampa’s technology industry has been generating buzz around the country, and prompted us to look at this market as a serious contender for our headquarters relocation,” Doug Sullinger, president of Vendita, said in the press release. “The talent pool, lifestyle, and cost of living here is extremely favorable, and the business climate really won us over.”

Vendita specializes in custom solutions for big companies that use Oracle and IBM products and services.

The Tampa Hillsborough EDC helped with real estate surveys and property searches, relocation assistance, and connections to industry partners. Vendita did not get any economic incentives, a spokeswoman for the EDC said.
