Spring trade mission to Costa Rica: Save the dates

November 19, 2015

The Tampa Bay Export Alliance will be leading an Export Sales Mission to Costa Rica from April 12 – 15, 2016. To help Tampa Bay companies learn about the wealth of export opportunities available in the Latin American nation, the Alliance is hosting two “Doing Business in Costa Rica” workshops, on January 13 in Pinellas County and January 14 in Hillsborough County. More details will be published soon.

Much of what is used or consumed in Costa Rica is imported making this an excellent market for Tampa Bay exporters.  The U.S. accounts for 40% of Costa Rica’s total imports, and Costa Rica is ranked as the 6th largest trading partner for Florida. Costa Rica is already an important trading partner for Port Tampa Bay, with direct container shipping connections provided by Seatrade/Altamar Shipping.  These existing relationships, close geographic proximity, and a strong CAFTA-DR trade agreement make this market very attractive for Tampa Bay companies.

Top sectors for Tampa Bay Exports include:
Automotive Parts and Service Equipment
Building/Construction
Cosmetics/Consumer Goods
Franchising
Fruits, Vegetables & Prepared Snacks
Food Processing and Packaging
Renewable Energy
Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices
Hotel& Restaurant Equipment
