Synergy Health, the firm that bought SRI/Surgical Express, has relocated its corporate headquarters for the Americas to Tampa.

The company currently has about 90 employees at the former SRI corporate offices, at 12425 Race Track Road, and expects to hire 20 to 30 more over the next year, said Dr. Richard Steeves, founder. That doesn’t include workers at a separate operations plant in Tampa, he said.

Synergy (LSE: SYR), which provides specialized outsourced services to the health care market, has its global headquarters in Swindon, United Kingdom. The America’s HQ previously was in San Diego. “We fell in love with Tampa Bay; it’s an up and coming city and very similar to San Diego where we spent the past year with our team until finally deciding on Tampa as our new headquarters for the Americas,” Steeves said in a statement.

Ken Hagan, chairman of the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners, is quoted in the statement as saying he’s “thrilled” about the move: “These are the types of companies we want in order to expand our international business presence and create jobs.”

The company did not receive any tax incentives to relocate, Steeves said. He’ll show off the new HQ this week, at the company’s annual Leadership Conference, when senior leadership from China, Europe and the U.K. will be on site.

Synergy paid about $28 million in July 2012 to acquire SRI Surgical.
