Tampa Hillsborough EDC Hires New Senior Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer

TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation (EDC) today announced that Mark Segel will be joining its management team as senior vice president and chief administrative officer on January 3, 2017. Segel brings nearly two decades of banking industry expertise and eight years of nonprofit leadership experience to his new role in the organization.

“Mark’s history of community leadership and his passion for our mission to bring high quality jobs and capital investment to Tampa and Hillsborough County make him an ideal addition to our management team,” said Craig J. Richard, CEcD, president and CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough EDC. “His skills are perfectly suited to help us achieve the goals we’ve set forth in our FY2017-2019 strategic plan and contribute to the success of our first capital campaign in 2017.”

Segel will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the senior management team at the EDC. His responsibilities will include providing strategic leadership and operational oversight on the administration and revenue functions of the organization, leading investor development and engagement initiatives, and developing strategic initiatives and special projects.

Before joining the EDC, Segel was South Tampa market manager for Northstar Bank. From 2007 – 2015, he held several leadership roles in the central Florida Jewish Federation system, including serving as executive director of the Jewish Federation of Pinellas and Pasco Counties, the Tampa Orlando Pinellas Jewish Foundation, and the Tampa Jewish Community Center and Federation. Prior to joining the Jewish Federation, he spent 17 years in the banking industry, in business development roles with Bank of America, Bank of Tampa, and Fifth Third Bank.

Segel also serves on the boards of several local business and nonprofit organizations, including the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce and Hillel of the Florida Suncoast. His past community service includes board roles with the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, the Leadership Tampa Alumni Association, and the Tampa Jewish Community Center and Federation.
