After several months of searching, the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation’s executive board has chosen Craig J. Richard, CEcD as the organization’s new President and CEO. Richard is a long-time economic development executive who brings years of experience in developing cities such as Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas to the table.

Most recently, Richard served as CEO of Invest Atlanta, the city’s official economic development and finance authority. His career highlights include more than 209 successful projects, representing more than 148,000 new jobs and $8.3 billion in capital investment.

Richard’s successful track record in business retention and recruitment and international business development wowed the selection committee, which voted unanimously to hire him as the EDC’s new chief executive.

“This is a pivotal time in our community’s economic growth, and the selection committee believes Craig’s [experience] makes him the right leader to ensure Tampa and Hillsborough County continue to be the pacesetter for economic prosperity in Florida,” said Colleen Chappell, the EDC’s 2016 Chair and President and CEO of ChappellRoberts.
