“The Infiltrator” Scouting Locations, Recruiting Extras in Tampa

January 22, 2015

While other communities struggle with winter colds and flu, Tampa residents and businesses have come down with a wicked case of Infiltrator fever! Director Brad Furman and members of his production team have been in town scouting locations and just issued a call for extras – and they need lots of them.  Anyone interested in being an extra for the film is encouraged to notify the production at infiltrator.movie@gmail.com.

The film, which will begin shooting in Tampa next month and stars Bryan Cranston (pictured), is based on the book of the same name by Robert Mazur, the undercover DEA agent who helped bring down a global financial institution found guilty of laundering millions of dollars for notorious Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Furman’s dedication to authenticity and his delight in the diverse shooting locations Tampa has to offer were key factors in his decision to shoot the film here, where substantial portions of the story take place. But Furman would have shot up to 90% of the film in Tampa had he been able to secure more incentives, something that local film champion Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan and Film Commissioner Dale Gordon will be fighting hard to get in the next legislative session.
