TAMPA, Fla. / QUIKRETE®, North America’s largest manufacturer of concrete and cement mixes, has filed plans to build a new 40,000 square foot warehouse and manufacturing on its existing property at 1902 Wood Court in Plant City. The expansion project, which will commence this month and is targeted for completion in June 2016, includes the addition of up to 35 new jobs within the next two years.

“We look forward to better serving our customers in the region and to being a positive presence in the local community with our new facility in Plant City,” said Chad Corley, director of public relations for QUIKRETE.

The Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation and The City of Plant City assisted QUIKRETE with expedited permitting, water use permitting, and workforce recruiting services through CareerSourceTampa Bay.

“Our community offers an abundance of assets, resources and support for area manufacturers, and QUIKRETE’s expansion in Plant City is certainly proof of that,” said Colleen Chappell, chair of the Tampa Hillsborough EDC and CEO of ChappellRoberts. “We look forward to assisting them as they grow and thank them for their investment in Hillsborough County.”

The new facility will be operated by Custom® Building Products, an operating division of the QUIKRETE Companies. The products that will be manufactured there include thin-sets, grouts and other preblended construction materials.

“We are extremely pleased to see QUIKRETE prospering in Plant City and excited about their future here,” said Randy Larson, chair of the Plant City Economic Development Corporation. “Thanks to companies like QUIKRETE, Plant City’s reputation as an ideal location for manufacturing continues to grow.”
