USAA, Think Anew choose Hillsborough County for expansions

In one of the biggest expansions this year, financial services giant USAA announced they would create 1,000 new jobs and build a new facility at their campus at Crosstown Center.

USAA will add nearly a quarter-million square feet of space at the facility, increasing employee capacity to nearly 4,500. This is USAA’s second expansion in Hillsborough County in four years.

“Tampa has been a great market for us, and we are thrilled to be expanding our presence in the region,” said Yvette Segura, USAA vice president and general manager in Tampa, in a statement. “Our growth here is part of our broader commitment to improve the products and services we offer our members and strengthen our reputation as a great place to work.”

Previously, USAA announced they were expanding its presence in Hillsborough County in November 2013, adding 1,215 new jobs and $164.3 million in capital investment. USAA built a 420,000 square-foot facility at Crosstown Center, the largest build-to-suit project in Hillsborough County since 2001.

In early August, Think Anew announced that it would expand in Tampa, creating 20 new high-wage jobs. This expansion will create the IT managed services provider’s first Florida location.

“The excitement building around job creation and recruitment of top tier companies to the Tampa area, especially in the Health and Life Sciences sector, is undeniable,” said Think Anew CEO Don Glidewell. ”This is a reflection of not only the talent coming from the communities and universities, but also the hard work and determination of the staff at Tampa Hillsborough EDC, Enterprise Florida, and Governor Scott’s office. As a company that believes in the American Dream and supports the healthcare community by making their operations safer, compliant and more efficient, Think Anew will bring new advancements and higher paying jobs to Florida.”

Executives at Think Anew considered several other states for the expansion, including Mississippi, but ultimately chose Tampa as the best location. The company’s offices are north of Brandon, off I-75.

The EDC worked with Enterprise Florida, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the City of Tampa, and Hillsborough County to bring Think Anew to our community.
