According to the 2023 Study: Corporate Relocation at Highest Rate Since 2017 from Hire a Helper, Florida had 86% more corporations move their HQ into the state, compared to the number of companies that chose to move their head office out of Florida — the highest net gain of any state!
Additionally, Tampa was among the top ten cities with the biggest net gains in new corporate headquarters at 42.9%.
As the commercial and industrial heart of the region, Hillsborough County – which includes the cities of Tampa, Plant City, and Temple Terrace – is a leading location for corporate site selection in North America.
Companies operating here enjoy lower costs, favorable corporate tax policies, no personal income tax, and stable, pro-business leadership. Collaboration between state and local government and industry has resulted in effective development packages, expedited permitting, and streamlined regulatory processes.
In 2018, Fortune 500 company The Mosaic Company announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters, including senior executives and related functions, to Tampa. In 2021, fast-growing cybersecurity company OPSWAT announced plans to relocate its corporate HQ from San Francisco to Tampa, Suzuki Motor Corporation chose Tampa for the corporate headquarters location of its new company Suzuki Marine USA, and Signode, the transit packaging division of Crown Holdings, relocated its corporate headquarters from the Chicago area to Tampa.
Tampa’s favorable business conditions have also attracted major operations from some of the world’s most well-known brands such as Amazon, Bristol Myers Squibb, Citigroup, Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, JP Morgan Chase, MetLife, Pfizer, Pitney Bowes, Raymond James Financial, and USAA.
“Tampa is the heart of the marine business in North America and we look forward to starting our operations here. We are confident that Tampa’s collaborative business climate, excellent quality of life and strategic location will help us build a successful company in the United States.”
