Information technology is one of the fastest growing industries in Tampa, experiencing a 30% jump in job growth of the last five years. This growth is expected to continue with projections of adding over 3,700 jobs by 2027, for a total growth of 14 percent, according to recent data from Chmura JobsEQ.
The growth in tech jobs has also spurred growth in tech businesses, with the number of businesses in the IT industry in the region increasing from nearly 13,400 in 2017 to nearly 17,000 in 2021 – an increase of 27 percent over the past five years.
One such business that started in Tampa in 2020 and continues to thrive is local cybersecurity firm Paragon Cyber Solutions. FOX 13 was on hand on Friday, February 10 as Courtney H. Jackson, founder and CEO of Paragon, celebrated the opening of her office space in one of downtown Tampa’s most iconic buildings.
