Colorado defense contractor relocates headquarters to Tampa

Orion Edge, a developer of tactical electronic warfare solutions, plans to create 20 jobs and invest $20 million in Hillsborough County

Tampa, Fla. (November 5, 2025) – Orion Edge, a defense technology company, has announced plans to add 20 new high-wage jobs including executive leadership and electrical, software, defense, and radio frequency engineer roles. Orion Edge develops tactical electronic warfare solutions that enable the warfighter to disrupt and deny the communications and navigation networks of adversary drones and uncrewed systems in multiple domains.

“We chose Tampa because of its proximity to our government customers at the United States Special Operations Command and the favorable business environment that is actively fostered by both the Tampa Bay area and the State of Florida,” said John Mueller, CEO of Orion Edge.

The company came to Tampa in May for the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference, was impressed with the opportunities that its leadership discovered in Tampa and immediately began working with the City of Tampa and the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council (EDC) on a possible move for their company. The EDC assisted Orion Edge with introductions to community partners, Investors, and applications for Quick Response Training (QRT) grants.

We’re proud to welcome Orion Edge to Tampa,” said Craig J. Richard, President and CEO of the Tampa Bay EDC. Orion Edge’s innovative defense technology and advanced warfighter solutions will play a crucial role in strengthening our region’s defense and security ecosystem.

Joanne LeBlanc of Colliers represented the tenant in the commercial real estate transaction.
