Joe Lopano
Joe Lopano arrived in Tampa on January 1, 2011, as Tampa International Airport’s new CEO. Prior to accepting the position, Lopano worked at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport for 14 years as Executive Vice President for Marketing and Terminal Management. He has 22 years of airport and airline expertise, having held management positions at Continental Airlines, Lufthansa, BWIA and Pan Am. He has held leadership roles in financial planning, international route development, advertising and frequent flyer programs. While at Continental, Lopano was the project director for “Business First,” the launch of their new business class product. He received a bachelor’s in finance and accounting from Pace University in New York and has accomplished graduate work in marketing at the University of Connecticut. Lopano serves on the boards of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, the Tampa Bay Partnership, the Tampa Bay Defense Alliance, the U.S. Travel Association’s inaugural Gateway Airport’s Council and the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization. In addition to the Tampa Hillsborough EDC, he is a member of the executive committees for the ACI–NA U.S. Policy Board and the Tony Jannus Society. He serves on the Saint Leo University’s Board of Trustees Sub-Committee for International Affairs. He is an Honorary Commander at MacDill Air Force Base and was selected to participate in the current class of Leadership Florida. He previously served as Chairman of the International Air Service Committee of the Airports Council International – North America.
