Bromley Companies and Highwoods Properties announce lease with South State Bank at Midtown West

November 11, 2020

TAMPA, FL – (November 10, 2020) – Bromley Companies and Highwoods Properties have announced South State Bank has signed a lease for 10,000 square feet at Midtown West, the signature office building in the Midtown Tampa’s mixed-use master plan.

“As the largest bank headquartered in Florida and a premier financial institution in the Southeast, we see this expanded presence in Tampa as a strategic investment and an enabler to our continued growth,” said Mark Thompson, president, Southern Banking Group. “The space at Midtown West enables us to bring our team together in one location and will serve as South State’s West Florida regional headquarters.”

“We warmly welcome South State Bank to Midtown West. We are in the work-place-making business and nothing exemplifies this more than a Midtown Tampa address. Thanks to the great work by our partners at the Bromley Companies who have curated a best-in-class and new-to-market collection of hotels, restaurants, shops and luxury living, we are transforming the office customer and talent experience with the opportunity to live, work and play all within walking distance,” said Dan Woodward, Vice President and Tampa Market Leader with Highwoods Properties, which is partnering with Bromley Companies on the development and leasing of Midtown West.

“Bringing a financial center of this caliber demonstrates the accessibility and appeal of Midtown Tampa,” said Nicholas Haines, CEO, Bromley Companies, the master developer of Midtown Tampa. “We’re creating a full-service, vibrant office experience with a complete suite of amenities like no other workplace in this market.”

“The central location and first-class mixed-use master plan offers tremendous visibility from I-275 and Dale Mabry and gives us the opportunity to serve our customers on a regional basis,” said Angel Gonzalez, market president, South State Bank. “Our team will enjoy being part of the buzz and energy, not only from the amenities within the building, but also as part of an urban, walkable development that we believe is one of the best addresses in the country.”

Among the amenities at Midtown West is a connected parking garage featuring covered entry directly to the lobby. Designed for ease and convenience, the garage features counters on each floor that show available spaces. Employees and visitors will also be able to take advantage of valet service – a particularly unique amenity for office buildings in Tampa.

In addition, a full-service concierge can help office workers make dining and other reservations, obtain event tickets, and learn more about the shopping, dining, nightlife and other experiences available at Midtown Tampa. South State Bank will provide two cutting-edge ITM (interactive teller machines) conveniently on site, delivering a greater level of banking services than an ATM, via a screen that allows users to speak live with a teller.

South State’s employees will become part of an experiential, mixed-use community focused on health and wellness. A series of interactive outdoor spaces including terraces in office and residential buildings, Aloft and Element Hotel rooftop pool and lounge, a dedicated dog and pet area, and Midtown Commons, the central green space that will be a hub for activities, holiday festivals and outdoor dining.

Just outside Midtown West is the half-mile landscaped pedestrian trail around the three-acre Midtown Lake, perfect for a brisk walk during lunch or an evening jog before heading home.

“Traditionally, Tampa has been a city designed around the car versus the pedestrian, yet at Midtown Tampa we’re flipping the priorities with a design that creates a new paradigm as a live, work, stay, dine and shop environment,” said Haines.

At Midtown West, employees will enjoy the time-saving convenience of many first-to-market food and beverage options along with Tampa’s largest Whole Foods Market® at Midtown. From fresh organic produce, irresistible international flavors, to gourmet-inspired chef prepared meals, a healthy lunch or dinner is just a few steps, click or a phone call away.

A custom mobile app full of innovative features and timesaving benefits will maximize the Midtown West experience for office users. With this app, you can access secure elevators and workspace, have meals delivered right to your office from signature restaurants, find deals and events, sign up for custom notifications, and utilize one-tap concierge customer service.

Located near the highly visible southeast intersection of Interstate 275 and N. Dale Mabry Highway, Midtown Tampa is positioned to serve the more than 240,000 vehicles and 500,000 people passing daily. The project takes advantage of a convergence of traffic including Westshore/Interstate 275, and is less than three miles from Tampa International Airport.

The first of three Class A office towers planned for the walkable, urban neighborhood, Midtown West will offer scenic views of Tampa Bay, Downtown Tampa and Midtown Lake, as well as ultimate convenience to the building’s ground-floor retailers, including REI Co-op.

Upon completion, Midtown Tampa will feature more than 750,000 square feet of Class A office space, a 390-unit luxury apartment community and over 200,000 square feet of retail.
