Moffitt Cancer Center has been named a 2012 Ventana Research Leadership Award winner for business technology.

The annual awards recognize the progressive use of information technology in business approaches, according to a written statement.

Moffitt is being honored for its health and research informatics platform overseen by Mark Hulse, vice president of information technology and chief information officer, and Dana Rollison, vice president/chief health information officer and a member of the Cancer Epidemiology Program.

The health and research informatics program supports Moffitt’s Total Cancer Care program by creating new intelligence from existing systems and by synthesizing data from numerous clinical sources. An organization nominated for a Ventana Research Leadership award is evaluated and scored for its use of people, processes, information and technology. Ventana is a business technology research and advisory firm based in San Ramon, Calif.
