Biologics Development Services said today it would open a new laboratory in Tampa, creating up to 15 jobs and $1.2 million in capital investment. The 6,000-square foot, state-of-the-art facility at 5670 W. Cypress St. in the Westshore business district is scheduled to open on Jan. 2.

The company is positioned to provide large molecule bioanalytical services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies across the Unites States and around the globe, along with the expertise to develop unique reagents and de novo assays to further their drug development programs, according to a statement.

State and local economic development partners, including Enterprise Florida Inc., Hillsborough County, the city of Tampa and the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp. worked together to assist in the development of the new facility.

“We appreciate the enthusiastic support we have received from agencies at the state and local level, which helped make the launch of this new laboratory a reality,” BDS President JulieAnn Rico said in a statement. “We look forward to furthering these partnerships in the future.”
