Cast-Crete plans to create 20 new jobs while investing in new equipment that uses green technology

Tampa, Fla. (July 31, 2023) – Cast-Crete, a leader in the precast concrete industry, is expanding its local workforce with plans to create 20 new jobs over the next couple of years. This expansion in workforce coincides with a major investment Cast-Crete is making to modernize its Tampa concrete plant.

The modernization project taking place at 6324 County Road 579 in Seffner involves installing new concrete batch equipment that utilizes green technology. For example, the new concrete mixers are electric rather than diesel, making them more environmentally friendly as they produce less dust and exhaust.

“Not only will the new equipment be more efficient, reliable and safe for our operations, but our neighbors will enjoy the reduced noise and dust it produces,” said Craig Parrino, Vice President of Engineering at Cast-Crete. “We are proud to make this investment in our community and are grateful to all of the local partners who helped move this project forward.”

The Tampa Bay Economic Development Council provided permitting assistance and connections to CareerSource Tampa Bay for talent pipeline assistance. Tampa Electric was a key partner ensuring electrical requirements for the new equipment were met. Other participants in the modernization project include: Voeller Mixers, Cocodrie Consulting, Inc., Electro Design Engineering, Inc., VW Structural Engineering LLC, and Mortensen Engineering, Inc.

“Cast-Crete is an important part of Hillsborough County’s manufacturing industry and we’re proud to support its expansion and modernization efforts,” said Ken Hagan, chair of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. “We thank Cast-Crete for this investment in our county and wish them continued growth and success.”

Cast-Crete is the latest manufacturer to announce an expansion in Tampa and Hillsborough County, including AutoSlide, Norwalt, and Tampa Tank-Florida Structure Steel. The jobs being created will include roles for general laborers and equipment operators.

“Manufacturing is an important industry sector for Tampa and Hillsborough County and we’re still seeing strong activity from manufacturing firms considering expansion in our area,” said Angel Gonzalez, Chair of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council and Regional President of SouthState Bank. “We’re proud to work with a local company like Cast-Crete as it continues to expand and invest in our community, create new jobs and adopt new techniques that will positively impact the environment and surrounding neighbors.”

Cast-Crete is a leader in the precast concrete industry. The company provides products and services for the building industry and is the largest manufacturer of precast lintels and sills in the nation.
