EDC welcomes J.P. DuBuque as Interim President & CEO
October 23, 2015
J.P. DuBuque, the Tampa Hillsborough EDC’s Vice President of Finance & Administration since 2012, begins his new role today as Interim President & CEO. He will continue building on the momentum we’ve achieved in the past six years and together with our Investors and partners and strengthening the EDC’s key initiatives for generating more jobs and capital investment for the region. In addition, he’ll oversee the areas of finance, accounting, human resources, and Investor Relations.
J.P. developed and implemented the structure, policies, and procedures that made the Tampa Hillsborough EDC the strong, independent organization it is today. With this solid foundation in place, the EDC can stay laser focused on pursuing projects and alliances that will bring positive economic growth to our community.
His leadership skills, dedication, and professional experiences will play an integral role over the next few months, as the EDC conducts a national search for new leadership.
“The entire organization is dedicated to positioning Tampa and Hillsborough County as a premier business destination with limitless opportunity,” said DuBuque. “We’re on track to achieve the big goals we have ahead of us.”
J.P. DuBuque succeeds Rick Homans, who led the EDC from 2012 until earlier this month. During Homans’ tenure, the EDC achieved record breaking success and built a reputation as one of the most successful economic development organizations in the state. Homans stepped down to serve as the new president and CEO of the Tampa Bay Partnership.
Prior to joining the EDC, DuBuque served as the Director of Administration and Marketing for a regional public accounting firm in Salisbury, Md. During his decade there, he helped the firm see a doubling of both revenues and staff, oversaw the expansion into new geographic markets, and created new lines of business.
In 2014, DuBuque was named a finalist for the Tampa Bay Business Journals’ CFO of the Year awards.
