Florida film commission veteran Dale Gordon to begin the role today

TAMPA, Fla./The Tampa Hillsborough Film and Digital Media Commission has hired Florida film commission veteran, Dale Gordon, as the Executive Director of the newly revitalized agency.  Gordon will begin the role today.

Gordon served as the Director of Film and Digital Media Development for the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission from 2001 through 2009, and as Vice President of Women in Film and Television Florida from 2008 to 2009. She is a 1999 graduate of the University of South Florida and has been a frequent guest lecturer at Full Sail University in Orlando.

“Dale has just the right experience, know-how and passion to bring productions to Hillsborough County, and make sure they have a great experience when they’re here,” said Rick Homans, Chairman of the Commission, and President and CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation.

In May, the Commission announced a nationwide search for an experienced industry professional to lead the organization, the latest in a series of actions to increase film and digital media business in Hillsborough County.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Dale to the team, and believe this is the first big step towards realizing the new investment and jobs that will come with a growing film and digital media industry,” said the Hon. Ken Hagan, Chairman of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, and the elected official responsible for championing the reestablishment of the Commission.

The Commission is funded by Hillsborough County, with additional contributions by the City of Tampa, and administrative support provided by the EDC.  Members of the Commission’s Executive Committee include Homans, Hagan, Visit Tampa Bay President and CEO Santiago Corrada, and Bob McDonaugh, Administrator of Economic Opportunity for the City of Tampa.

“Tampa and Hillsborough County have all the talent and assets we need to attract new productions, and the investments that come with them,” said Gordon.  “I’m excited to work with our local production companies to help them grow, and to bring high-impact films, television series, commercials and other projects to our community.”
