Ever thought about expanding your business into Latin America, but didn’t know where to start? The next Tampa Bay Export Alliance mission to Bogota, Colombia can help you vet new prospects and lay the groundwork for new business in just two days.

This export mission, taking place September 27-30, will feature the U.S. Commercial Service Gold Key Program, which offers one-on-one, matchmaking appointments with potential customers during the multi-day mission. Interested companies will receive an initial evaluation prior to acceptance into the program to weigh their compatibility with the market.

Applications for the Gold Key program package must be received by July 30, 2017. Application details and other mission information can be found on the TBEA’s website.

As the second largest export market for Florida and fourth largest economy in Latin America, Colombia is an excellent market for Tampa Bay area companies looking to export. Exports to Colombia have increased 15 percent since the start of the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which eliminated import tariffs on 80 percent of U.S. consumer and industrial products. Additionally, consumers in Colombia often favor U.S. products and services over those of other countries, due to their quality and reliability.

Best export sectors for U.S. products to Colombia include, but are not limited to, agriculture, automotive, information technology, medical equipment, and processed food and beverages.
