EDC hires veteran economic development professional

July 19, 2017

Earlier this month, Juawana Colbert Williams joined the Tampa Hillsborough EDC as its newest business development manager. Recently named one of the “Top 50 Economic Developers in the Country” by Consultant Connect, Williams will be bringing her considerable expertise to assisting local companies, with a specific focus on the life sciences and defense and security industries.

Williams previously served as the director of economic development for Fayetteville Cumberland County EDC, where she managed all new business marketing and recruitment and project management. Prior to that role, she held positions at The Greater Houston Partnership and the Charlotte Regional Partnership, selling multi-county regions as prime business destinations.

The Los Angeles native earned her bachelor’s degree in business management from Northwood University. She graduated from the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma and plans to pursue CEcD certification.

“Juawana brings years of experience in major markets to the table,” said the EDC’s Vice President of Business Development, Steve Morey. “Her education and skillset will be invaluable to our organization and the companies we are helping to expand in this market.”
