German Lighting Distributor Expanding North American HQ, Doubling Workforce in Tampa

A German lighting company is planning to expand its North American headquarters and distribution center in Tampa, building a new facility and doubling the number of employees.
 
SLV Lighting, which manufactures residential and commercial lighting products, is just north of Tampa International Airport, at 5731 Benjamin Center Drive, where it employs 20 people. The company is planning to build a new 75,000-square-foot facility at nearby 6101 Johns Road, west of state route 589, the Tampa-Hillsborough Economic Development Corp. announced Thursday.
 
The new property could accommodate two future expansions, the EDC said.
 
Construction costs are pegged at $8.95 million, according to the EDC. The expansion will create up to 22 new jobs in accounting, engineering, training, purchasing, project management and other roles.
 
“SLV Lighting has been thriving in Tampa since we established a presence here in 2009,” said Steve Parker, president of SLV Lighting North America, in a written statement. “It made perfect sense for us to build our new headquarters in this location, where we have excellent access to the airport and plenty of room to grow.”
