HCC is seeking local companies to provide real-world experience to students

June 28, 2021

The Hillsborough Community College – Dale Mabry Campus Associate in Science Internship Program is seeking Tampa area businesses to collaborate with and offer Experiential Learning Opportunities for its A.S. Degree-Seeking Students. The goal of the program is to help students receive practical experience before they graduate or transfer to a four-year institution. It’s an excellent opportunity for local companies to give back and facilitate the success of future entrants into your profession.

There are three ways your organization can participate:

Internship:  An internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. An internship can be paid or unpaid.

Job Shadowing:  An on-the-job learning, career development, and leadership development program. Students can spend time at your company, learning aspects of your organization.

Mentoring: Get paired with a protégé and provide career advice, professional skills development, and networking opportunities. Help a college student succeed in the work world. Meetings can be held in person or virtually. HCC is also seeking guest speakers.

HCC’s experiential learning program continues to grow and evolve. A number of successes have already taken place with students finding full-time positions following an internship. Some of the companies that have partnered with HCC’s Internship Program include RevStar Consulting, MCS of Tampa, CDC of Tampa, Verizon, Perseus Information Security Consulting, Gresham Smith, the Omnia Group, and The Beck Group.

If you’d be willing to allow one or more of HCC’s students to visit your business to get a better understanding of their particular career, or if you would like to host an intern, please click here.

Your readiness to share your industry knowledge and skill with a student hoping to learn more about your profession will bear immeasurable fruit for the student, the Hillsborough County community, and yourself.
