Manufacturing, Information Technology services sectors powering 2017 Tampa market growth

July 12, 2017

The manufacturing and information technology industries are doing their part to keep Tampa Bay’s job creation machine humming this year. Since fiscal year 2017 commenced on October 1, the Tampa Hillsborough EDC announced 19 projects, 10 of which were in these two sectors. While Amgen’s March announcement that it would relocate its global shared services center from California to Tampa and create close to 500 high wage jobs stole the spotlight, the relocations of Continuity Logic, BlueLine Associates, and Vendita from New Jersey, North Carolina and Ohio prove that companies around the country are drawn to Tampa’s increasing appeal. Local technology firms ReliaQuest, CareSync, BlueGrace Logistics, and DAS Health announced expansions that added a combined 930 high-wage jobs to the region.

Local manufacturing companies are thriving in Tampa as well, as Corin and Metrohm announced major expansions of their US headquarter facilities, adding more than 100 jobs and over $50 million in capital investment.
