Registration is now open for TBEA trade mission to Colombia

May 24, 2017

The Tampa Bay Export Alliance (TBEA) is now accepting applications and registration for their next export sales mission to Bogota, Colombia on September 27-30.

As the second largest export market for Florida and fourth largest economy in Latin America, Colombia is an excellent market for Tampa Bay companies looking to export. Exports to Colombia have increased 15 percent since the start of the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which eliminated import tariffs on 80 percent of U.S. consumer and industrial products. Consumers in Colombia often favor U.S. products and services over those of other countries, due to their quality and reliability.

This mission will feature the U.S. Commercial Service Gold Key Program, which offers personalized one-on-one appointments with potential customers or partners during the multi-day mission to Bogota. Interested companies will receive an initial market evaluation prior to acceptance into the program.

Best export sectors for U.S. products to Colombia include, but are not limited to, agriculture, automotive, information technology, medical equipment, and processed food and beverages. For a more complete look at the opportunities available to companies looking to export, please download the Colombia mission brochure.

Applications for the Gold Key program package must be received by July 30, 2017. Application details and other mission information can be found on the TBEA’s website.

For those interested in learning more about export opportunities to Colombia, TBEA is hosting two complimentary Doing Business in Colombia workshops. The workshop in Hillsborough County will be held Tuesday, June 13 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Florida SBDC at USF in Port Tampa Bay, with the Pinellas County workshop being held at the Collaborative Labs at EPICenter on Tuesday, June 13 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
