SurgiShop has closed on a Lutz property with plans to create 15 new jobs

Tampa, Fla. (November 27, 2023) – SurgiShop, a Tampa-based medical supply company, announced today its expansion to a larger space and plans to add 15-20 new jobs over the next 1-3 years.

SurgiShop has purchased an 11,381-square-foot building at 19235 41 Highway N in Lutz, Fla. to accommodate for office space and a larger warehouse. The new jobs will include roles in sales, customer service, warehouse operations, and professional services.

“The biggest contributor to our growth is no doubt the high-quality talent we’ve been able to find in the Tampa market,” said Nick Derian, Chief Operating Officer of SurgiShop. “We’re excited to further plant our roots in Hillsborough County with the purchase of this building and to continue to grow and create more job opportunities in the local community.”

The Tampa metro area currently has more than 3,200 establishments in the Life Sciences and Healthcare industry, according to D&B Hoovers. Since 2020, this industry has seen a significant growth rate of 74%. Among the new businesses contributing the most to this growth are in medical equipment and supplies manufacturing, which grew by 18%.

SurgiShop is the latest local company to announce an expansion in Tampa and Hillsborough County, following Cast Crete, Verséa Health, and BeniComp. The Tampa Bay Economic Development Council assisted SurgiShop with its real estate search, provided labor market data, and made connections to CareerSource Tampa Bay for workforce programs.

“The life sciences and healthcare industry is one of the Tampa market’s fastest growing industries,” said Joe Lopano, chair of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council and CEO of Tampa International Airport. “We’re pleased to assist local companies like SurgiShop as they continue to expand in our market and create new high-quality jobs.”

SurgiShop was formed in 2013 as a wholesale distributor of high-end surgical disposables and quickly began to redefine the market’s perception of third-party distributors. In 2018, SurgiShop set out to expand to the retail market. The company was previously located in 6,000 square feet at 8910 N. Dale Mabry Hwy.
